In the beginning of Meiji period (1870's)  the New Japanese Meiji government made a start to compile Land register and Cadastral map across Japan.
The lot number of your ancestor's address information (domicile address) can indicate the place where your ancestor lived in on old cadastral map.
After getting the cadastral map we might locate the place on Google earth.

How to obtain your ancestor's family register (Japanese Koseki-tohon,Joseki-tohon)?

The city hall asks you that where your ancestor's registered domicile was. That means you have to inform the city hall of your ancestor's registered domicile when you file the application form to obtain family registers in general.
We can obtain your ancestor's family register if you don't identify your ancestor's these information.
